Love and Joy are a part of the fruit of the Spirit. In Philippians 4:8, Paul gives us specific guidelines on what we are to think or meditate about.

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.”

Fruit is something that naturally grows from a living plant. The fruit of the Spirit are characteristics which should naturally grow out of the operation of the Spirit of our life.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 NIV

Fruit of the Spirit are thoughts based upon biblical principles to inspire us to cultivate the fruits of the Spirit in our daily lives because these are fruits given to us by the Holy Spirit, not from ourselves.
